We already knew that Spider Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s much-anticipated sequel to 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse, will get multiversal on us. We now have a tease from Lord and Miller about one of the places in said multiverse where we’ll be going.

During the YouTube Afterparty for the movie’s trailer release (via TotalFilm), executive producers and screenwriters Miller and Lord along with Hailee Steinfeld, who voices Gwen, revealed images of several new Spideys, including Pavitr Prabhakar, the Spider-Man from India World (a.k.a. Earth 50101). “He lives in a world we’re calling Mumbattan, which is based on these ’70s comic books in India,” Miller said.

“The idea for this dimension is that it’s Manhattan, but in reverse,” added Lord. “Instead of it going up it goes down.”

The eleven-minute video, which is now available to everyone (not just those with YouTube Premium), also features images of a pregnant Jess Drew (voiced by Issa Rae and pictured above), who Gwen sees as a potential mentor, and Spider-Punk (voiced by Daniel Kaluuya). They also share that Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), who we saw in the first film, got back with Mary Jane, and they had a baby they named Mayday, who has some super spider-blood in her veins.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse swings into theaters on June 2, 2023.
